In Israel, we call these things ‘Hamtzavar’ (חם צוואר). A combination of both a hat and a cowl, it makes a handy accessory for a chilly night!

The stranded color-work floats make it extra warm (just don’t forget to catch your floats!). You can use my triangles chart or whatever else you wish!

’Hamtzavar’ is a quick knit that uses a small amount of yarn, and I hope that if you choose to knit it you’ll enjoy it as much as I do (which is very much!).

Materials:

  • 4 mm / US size 6 16” circular needle
  • optional - 4 mm / US size 6 DPN
  • two colors of yarn, about 80-130 meters from each color. Heavy DK or worsted weight
  • a darning needle for weaving in ends
