HANAMI

This design is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of flowers and the tradition of Hanami, the celebration that invites us to contemplate the beauty of cherry blossoms and celebrate the arrival of spring.
Cherry blossoms, with their subtlety and elegance, symbolize fleeting perfection and the deep connection with nature that defines Japanese philosophy.

CONSTRUCTION

HANAMI is worked with a top-down construction.
It starts with the back, worked flat (back and forth), shaping the shoulder using short rows.
It is a drop-shoulder sweater that features an increase line extending from the neckline down the back, creating a visual effect similar to a raglan at the back, while the front remains straight.

The front is worked separately and flat (back and forth), beginning at the shoulders and progressing until shaping the neckline, at which point both parts are joined to form the front yoke.
Once the yoke is complete, the front and back are joined at the underarms to form the body, which is worked in the round and incorporates the colorwork motif, the central decorative element of the design.

The sleeves are worked by picking up stitches around the armholes and knitting in the round down to the cuffs.

Finally, the neckline is worked by picking up stitches around the neck opening and knitting in single rib stitch, as are the cuffs and the hem.

GAUGE

18 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in St st worked flat, using 5 mm needles. Gauge is measured after blocking.

NEEDLES

5 mm (US 8) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

4.5 mm (US 7) needles, or 0.5 mm smaller than those used for the main gauge.
These smaller needles will be used for the neckband, hem, and cuffs.

Circular needles with cable lengths according to the number of sts being worked (suggested: 80 cm or 100 cm cables for body and sleeves).

4 mm (G-6) crochet hook for making the bobbles of Motif A.

INSPIRACIÓN

Este diseño está inspirado en la estética japonesa de las flores y en la tradición del HANAMI, la celebración que invita a contemplar la belleza de los cerezos en flor y a celebrar la llegada de la primavera. Las flores de cerezo, con su sutileza y elegancia, simbolizan la perfección efímera y la conexión profunda con la naturaleza que define la filosofía japonesa.

CONSTRUCCIÓN

HANAMI se elabora con una construcción de arriba hacia abajo (top-down). Se inicia con la espalda trabajada en plano (ida y vuelta), dando forma a la inclinación de los hombros mediante vueltas cortas. Es un suéter de manga caída que presenta una línea de aumentos que se extiende desde el cuello hacia la parte inferior de la espalda, creando un efecto visual similar a un raglán en la espalda, mientras que el frente se mantiene recto.

El delantero se teje por separado y en plano (de ida y vuelta) comenzando por los hombros y avanzando hasta formar el escote, momento en el que ambas partes se unen para dar forma al canesú delantero. Una vez completado el canesú, el delantero y la espalda se unen a la altura de las axilas, formando el cuerpo, que se trabaja en circular e incorpora el motivo de jacquard, el elemento decorativo central del diseño.

Las mangas se tejen recogiendo puntos alrededor de las sisas y trabajando en circular hasta el puño. Finalmente, el cuello se construye recogiendo puntos alrededor del escote y tejiendo en punto elástico simple, al igual que los puños y la pretina.

AGUJAS

Agujas de 5 mm o el grosor necesario para obtener la muestra en p jersey

Agujas 0.5 mm más delgadas que con las que obtuviste la muestra. Éstas se utilizarán para realizar cuellos, pretina y puños.

Para tejer el cuerpo del suéter utilizarás agujas con cables. El cable puede ser de la medida que más te acomode por la cantidad de pts finales, como también para las mangas y puños.

Crochet de 4 mm para realizar los bodoques del Motivo A.
