Hanami is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers; flowers (“hana”) are in this case almost always
referring to those of the cherry (“sakura”) or, less frequently, plum (“ume”) trees. From the end of March to early May, cherry trees bloom
all over Japan and around the first of February on the island of Okinawa.

Shawl “Hanami” is worked top down and has a semicircular shape.
Yarn: The sample has been worked with Midara Lace Yarn (70% merino, 30% silk, 1000 m/100 g); with two strands of yarn held together.
The shawl as shown used 320 “Zlatka” beads.
Shawl weight is 139 g including beads.
Yardage: approx. 1400-1500 m/139-150 grams.

Skill level: medium

Techniques used: knit and purl, yarn over, k2tog, ssk, psso, k3tog (with central stitch on top) and others.
The finished size of the shawl will depend on the yarn weight, needle size and your individual gauge.
