Gauge: 20 stitches and 28 rows per 4” (10 cm) with fingering weight yarn in 1x1 ribbing (k1, p1).

Needles: (1) 24” (2) 40” circular needles in size needed to achieve gauge listed above (suggested size: US 7/4.5mm plus 1 size 24” US 5/3.75mm). If you prefer, you may use DPNs in place of the 24” needles. I personally prefer to use the magic loop method as I do my decreases.

Designer’s note: Everyone knits differently, so I HIGHLY recommend you do a gauge swatch before starting your sweater to ensure that your gauge is correct for the pattern. You may prefer going down in needle sizes depending on your tension and the finished fabric of your swatch.

Materials used: Yarndyeries (fingering; 100% merino wool; 434 yds/115 g, OR any other yarn that knits up to desired gauge).

Yardage: 906(970, 1092, 1202, 1316, 1476, 1591, 1761, 1843, 2006) yds fingering weight yarn.

Other notions: ½”/2 cm elastic for waistband, 5 stitch markers (1 unique for BOR), crochet hook/tapestry needle, scrap yarn/stitch holder, safety pins, sewing thread, tape measure and scissors.
