This elegant yet comfortable stole is the last one that
Dorothy Reade designed and knitted, and was unfinished when she died. Her daughter gave it to Alice Scherp, a good friend of Dorothy’s, to finish. The shawl is special to Alice because it’s the only one of Dorothy’s shawls that she has. The shawl is made from handspun yarn designed especially for this project. Alice graciously allowed me to borrow her treasured stole and to include the pattern in this book.

The original design in Successful Lace Knitting is very wide and uses a large amount of yarn. My updated version in the Travel the World of Knitting App is a more manageable size for today’s knitters.
