What I love about ferns is their graceful, slender leaves… and amazing resilience not only in nature but indoors as hanging plants that make our spaces more attractive and liveable.

The Hanging Ferns top reflects this duality, being suited to year-round indoor or outdoor wear if you slip on a jacket over top. I selected a hand-dyed, fingering-weight, 100% superwash merino wool (col. sea grass) whose subtle tonalities remind me of ferns as they return to life in the damp woods each spring.

Construction
The Hanging Ferns top features nature-inspired lacework in a top-down, seamless design. The lace yoke is worked circular to the armhole band, then separated and continued flat around the fitted armholes. The body is rejoined at the underarms for circular knitting and continued with lace side panels. The hem is finished flat, turned under and sewn in place. The raised back and fitted waist are both optional. The pattern contains a schematic, sizing table, written instructions, and charts for the lacework.
