Hanui Cardigan
❤︎Introduction
‘Hanui’ is a beautiful, pure Korean word meaning a cool and dry breeze blowing from the west on a clear day.
Just like the meaning its name carries, this cardigan was created to hold a cozy warmth that will gently wrap around you during the colder seasons.
The ‘Hanui Cardigan’ is a Faglan cardigan knitted using the Top-Down method, starting from the neck and working downwards.
After casting on and creating the neckline using German Short Rows, the shoulders and chest are widened with Raglan increases.
Once enough stitches have been increased, the sleeve stitches are put on hold, and the body is knit down to the desired length.
The body hem is finished with 2x2 Ribbing and a Garter Stitch Bind-off. Both button bands are created, and the neckband is finished neatly with a double banding (double-layer hem).
Afterward, the held sleeve stitches are picked up and knit to the desired length. The cardigan is completed by attaching a pocket to the left front chest.

This cardigan is designed with a ‘Standard Fit’ to be comfortable for layering as an inner garment under thick outerwear.
It offers excellent mobility as it won’t feel bulky around the arms or body when worn under a coat.
For the most beautiful and comfortable fit, it is recommended to choose a size that gives you approximately 5-10cm (2-4 inches) of positive ease (larger than your actual bust circumference).
