Hanukkah Square in worsted weight yarn, in Ivory (30 yds), Blue (15 yds), and Yellow (3 yds)(approximate amounts). The photo example was worked in Knit Picks Brava Worsted in Cream, Celestial and Caution. The square with the tapestry crochet menorah motif is worked in rows and then finished with an edging worked in the round. Chart included. 3.75mm F hook. The square measures about 7”. It’s a little wider than it is long so if you need a more perfect square, I suggest working the top and bottom of the edging in a G hook.

This is not a difficult pattern but it requires understanding how to change color and lots of concentration! Counting stitches is the key to success!

I’ve been designing patterns for about 5 years now. I happened to notice that while Christmas crochet patterns could fill up an ocean, there are very few crochet patterns for Hanukkah - so, I decided to try to fix that! My original patterns now include several designs for Hanukkah and I’m working on a new one for this year which should be available by the end of September. My patterns are generally paid but last year I made a Hanukkah rectangle available for free, so I’m continuing the tradition this year with this free Hanukkah square.

Happy Hanukkah - enjoy!
