This vest is the serendipitous combination of a great yarn and a great idiom, and no, I’m not referring to actual bunnies. Or…Bunnies, if corset-inspired vests get you thinking in that direction. I’d picked up 2 skeins of green-turquoise Merino Script during an impulse trip to Purl Soho last winter and could not for the life of me come up with a project for the lightly textured, incredibly soft, fluffy aran-weight yarn that needed to be an article of clothing. And then it hit me: Vest! Sideways-knit! Box-stitch! Short rows! Math! (…let’s pretend I never said that last part.) I was, to borrow the not very American idiom from an ex-boyfriend, a happy bunny in that moment. For a pattern that takes up just over one skein of yarn and requires not that much finishing (unless sewing buttons grinds your gears?), maybe you will be too.

The pattern was written for XS/S only and, though stretchy (the finished garment fits a decidedly petite 30C frame, so work with me here), will need to be tinkered with for those more or less gifted in the height and/or curves department. See pattern notes in the PDF file for tips on re-sizing in a somewhat meaningful fashion.
