Hastings is a colourwork vest that makes for a nice warm layer in the cooler months, without being too warm indoors. Being a cropped vest, it requires relatively little yarn and doesn’t take as long to knit as a sweater. Colour changes only occur every few rows, there are no more than 2 colours per row, and there is no waist shaping. This is a good project for those new to colourwork. The tricky parts are the neck and armhole shaping, but detailed instructions and extra chart aids are provided for these sections.

Hastings is named after Captain Hastings. If you are a Poirot fan then you will know what I mean when I say this is inspired by the many vests of Arthur Hastings! (The David Suchet version.)
