The repeated lace “zigzags” on this hat result in lace “diamonds”. That’s why I called it “Almaz”, which means “diamond” in many languages. The “zigzag” stitch is adapted from my “Winding Paths” scarf pattern.

This hat pattern includes both written instructions and a chart for the lace stitch.

The hat is knitted in the round and does not have a seam.

Size: one size to fit a child or an average lady with head circumference of 21”-23”/ 53-58 cm

Yarn used: #4 medium worsted (10 ply)
Gauge: 4.5 sts per 1” in stockinette stitch

For a baby size hat, use a sport or DK weight yarn, for a toddler - a thinner version of medium worsted yarn with smaller needles.

The little purple hat in the last picture is made in a sport weight yarn on US#6 needles, it will fit size 6-12 months.

The pink hat is knitted in a thinner medium worsted yarn on US #7 needles, and will fit size 12 months +.
