This hat is very simple and can be knit by the proficient knitter in a few hours. Due to its bulky gauge, the hat is a bit stretchy and will cover most adult heads. Knitters have two edge options: a simple rolled edge or a 1 x 1 ribbed edge as well as two gauge options – the first set of numbers (in red) is for super bulky yarns (2.5 sts per inch), the second set of numbers (in blue) is for chunky yarns (2 sts per inch). If there is only one set of numbers, it applies to both sizes. The gauge may be varied for a slightly smaller or larger hat, so two needle sizes options are given for each gauge.

SKILLS NEEDED: Knitting in the round, simple shaping (knit 2 together).

MATERIALS NEEDED: 75 yds of super bulky / 70 yds of chunky yarn, US #11 (8mm) or 13 (9mm) 16 circular and double pointed needles / US #15 (10mm) or 17 (11mm) 16” and double pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, darning needle. Please note: the whole hat may be knit on just double pointed needles.
SIZE: One size fits most adults: circumference: 20”, length from top of hat to base: 8”.

GAUGE: 10 sts and 15 rows / 8 sts and 12 rows per 4” in stockinette st (K every rnd)
