The pretty stitch on the border of this hat is shaped with simple cables and is really easy and fun to knit! The cute small red “beads” are created with slipped stitches.

The border is made sideways, then stitches are picked up and the top is knitted in the round.

The hat requires some sewing (to join the cast on and bound off edges of the border).
