Hauge
Hauge, is a place name in many places in Denmark, it means “garden” or a place where the soil is better than the surrounding soil I was inspired for the model when I visited Davids Samlinger in Copenhagen, and the following text is the label that belongs to the beautiful dish.
At Timur’s instigation, a workshop was established in 1402 to produce utility ceramics of the highest quality in Samarkand. It was staffed with some of the period’s most skilled potters, who had been forcibly relocated from the conquered territories in the Middle East. Already in 1411, however, the potters were allowed to leave Samarkand, and then new production sites were established in Mashhad, Nishapur, and Tabriz. Many elements of Timurid pottery were taken over from Chinese porcelain. This also applies to the shape of this dish with its curved edge and sides with rhombuses. The color scheme and the central, delicate plant decoration, on the other hand, are a legacy of older Islamic ceramics.
