This blanket is a basic, uncomplicated design of stockinette within a garter edge border. The uniqueness comes from holding the yarn double throughout, creating faded stripes with color transitions and a dense, snuggly fabric.

Simplistic designs allow yarn selection to take center stage, so play around with different colors and enjoy the process!

The DK weight yarn is held double throughout, creating a worsted weight fabric with a faded stripe effect.

Approx. yarn needed, DK weight
Color A: 980 yds / 896 m (400 g)
Color B: 490 yds / 448 m (200 g)
Color C: 490 yds / 448 m (200 g)
Color D: 245 yds / 224 m (100 g)

This pattern could be modified any number of ways to make it your own! A few ideas to personalize your blanket:

  • Knit stripes of different widths for a less symmetrical look
  • Change the order of the fade
  • Do more (or fewer) stripes to alter the size
  • Use different yarn weight(s), keeping in mind that yardage required will vary if you opt for this modification
