The Haynet Beginner Scarf makes a cozy late fall/winter accessory. This scarf works up quickly with an open stitch pattern in super bulky yarn. The fringe adds flair, but is completely optional. Including the fringe leaves no ends to weave in. The simple stitch pattern is perfect for beginning crocheters as a first project.

This is a beginner level pattern. Stitches required are chain, single crochet, and treble crochet stitches. The shrug is made from a simple rectangle, seamed together at the underarms. The pattern makes a scarf (pictured) that is approximately 9” (23 cm) wide and 80” (203 cm) long after blocking.

This scarf can easily be made as long or short as you like. To make it wider, just add to the beginning chain in multiples of two. To make it longer, keep adding rows until the scarf reaches desired length.
