This pattern is to make a rectangular cowl or neck warmer (approximately 8” wide by 30” long) that can be closed around the neck with a decorative pin or buttons. The pattern makes use of a number of crochet stitch techniques including working in the front loop only, the 3rd loop only, hdc cross stitch, front post and back post double crochet and reverse single crochet. It is also written to use 2 different colours of yarn, though can be worked in a single colour or in other colour combinations.

This pattern makes use of one skein of the main colour (shown here in Red Heart Soft and Red Heart Heat Wave) with a small amount of the accent colour.

Materials:

• Approximately 200 yards worsted weight yarn
• Optional small amount of accent colour in worsted weight yarn
• 6.0 mm crochet hook
• buttons or decorative pin
