In these challenging times I wanted to design a simple pattern to machine knit a 3-d heart which is closed by a single grafted row. I am happy for anyone to use this pattern for free, and pass it on to friends (please just give me a shout out as the designer!)

Pattern produces a 3-d heart approximately 8 x 8 cm using DK yarn at tension 9 on a standard gauge single bed knitting machine. Pattern would also work on mid-gauge or chunky machine; final size would depend on yarn choice and tension used.

One word of caution – if you plan to make pairs to provide to ICUs for people who COVID-19 have taken away from us and their families; please do check with the local health authority that they are able to accept them and how they need them packaged.
