Heart disease is the leading cause of death for American women. The month of February is dedicated to increasing awareness about heart disease. I designed this very simple but wearable cowl to celebrate our lives and encourage us to get our hearts checked.

The pattern is both written and charted. I chose Manos del Uruguay’s Alegria grande for the pattern because of their Fair Trade practices and how they help women around the world! Plus it is super yummy!

Rather than incorporating usual ribbing to stabilize the edges I used the same heart motif in garter. It is a lovely gift to give finished or a great project to give a friend.

We will have kits available to buy and here is the link: http://www.handsonknittingcenter.com/shop/c/p/Heart-Check...

The pattern is free but I encourage you to make a donation to the American Heart Association if you download this pattern. Here is the link: link text
