I wrote this pattern to create some heart-shaped hangers for christmas, but if you change the design you can use it for any occasion.
I used this to wrap around a styrofoam heartshape, but i guess if you stuff it with any filling to your liking, that would work as well, plus you’d be able to use different needles-sizes and yarns.
The size of the heart is about 4 inches across (or 10 cm).

The pattern is a chart. I used this design, but you can easily change the design to your liking. It is originally knit in stocking stitch, but can be changed to garter or any other stitch to create a totally different look.

I knit two pieces and seamed them together, but you could also knit the chart twice and have only one seam, or even knit it in the round and have no seam at all.

Great way to use up leftovers of yarn, as it requires very little, plus a really quick knit!

stitches used:

  • knit / purl
  • decrease 1 stitch by knitting 2 stitches together
  • decrease 1 stitch by slipping 2 stitches, put them back on the left needle, knit 2 together
  • decrease 1 stitch by purling 2 stitches together
  • make 1 stitch by knitting in the front and back of the stitch (left or right)
  • make 1 stitch by picking up the bar in between stitches
  • double centered decrease by slipping 2 stitches knitwise, knit 1, pass 2 slipped stitches over

note on the last row: you will be decreasing on the wrong side and casting off at the same time.
