Heartwood Bag
Create a whimsical and fantastical Heartwood Bag for yourself with this highly detailed 20 Page pattern packed with photos and written instructions.
The Heartwood Bag resembles a slice of a sturdy tree stump as it is claimed by the forest floor- by moss, vines, leaves and mushrooms. Perfect for the goblincore aesthetic, for fae folk or for those who just love nature!
Your bag will comprise of tree rings and bark sides, a button closure and a strong low-stretch shoulder strap. Instructions are then included for how to add cracks and make mushrooms, leaves and moss to embellish your backpack- as well as add a dangling knotted vine and moss fringe if you’d like!
This pattern is not ‘size specific’. A gauge does not need to be met, but sizing checkpoints are given if you would like to achieve a final piece of the exact same measurements as the bag depicted in the pattern. This bag has a diametre of 26cm (10.25in), depth of 7cm (2.75in) and shoulder strap 90cm (36in) in length.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
50g LIGHT BROWN aran yarn, or equivalent Size 4/heavier worsted yarn
40g MEDIUM BROWN aran yarn, or equivalent Size 4/heavier worsted yarn
150g DARK BROWN aran yarn, or equivalent Size 4/heavier worsted yarn
For embellishments: DK and aran yarn scraps (less than 10g of each colour) in green tones and earth tones
Various moss and vine yarns in small/scrap amounts (suggestions for yarns to use to imitate moss are included in the pattern)
Notions -
One 15mm (0.6in) diameter button
Recommended hooks & tools -
3, 4 and 5mm hooks
Notions - Yarn needle, stitch markers and sharp scissors.
