About
The Heartwood Socks are a pair of seamless, toe-up socks. Inspired by their namesake, heartwood - the older, darker wood that provides strength and stability to the cores of larger trees, these socks feature a neat column of heart-shaped cables flowing up the centre of the instep and on both sides of the leg.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions, and is suitable for intermediate knitters.

Construction
Stitches are cast on and increased for the toe. The cable design is then worked across the instep, while the sole is worked in stockinette. Stitches are increased further to form the gusset, after which the heel is turned and the heel flap completed. The cable design is resumed and worked on both sides of the leg, before a short ribbed cuff is worked and stitches are cast off.
