Tipping the hat to a poem by Paul Verlaine, mock cables undulate like rows of hedges off toward the horizon. This simple, rectangular design is simple and comforting to knit. Streamlined for charity knitting, this easily adaptable design can be worn as a shawl or generous scarf.

Fully charted and written instructions are easy to adapt for sizing adjustments.

Dimensions:
Length: 52” / 132 cm
Width: approximately 14” / 35.5 cm unstretched. Ribbed fabric opens to about 16” / 40 cm when worn.

Yarn:
If knitting for charity donation, take care to use a yarn that will easily tolerate machine washing and drying. Photos show finished shawl after one cycle in the washer and dryer in a public laundromat on medium heat.
Sample used 4 skeins of Plymouth Encore Colorspun Worsted, colorway 7765 Turquoise.

Errata: in the first version of the pattern, the body repeat should read as follows: “Work rows 1-4 until piece measures 46” / 117 cm …”
