The Hedyn Shawl is a simple triangle knitted from the tip, allowing for complete flexibility on the size of your finished shawl. The shawl is an all-over seed stitch creating an elegant but cosy finished wrap that feels like a warm hug on a cold day. “Hedyn” is the Welsh word for “seed” and seemed the perfect choice of name because of the stitch choice and to reflect my Welsh roots.

Finished wingspan: 190cm (75”)
Finished height: 95cm (37”) Size is adjustable by adding/reducing the number of rows before binding off.

This is a super easy shawl and very beginner friendly. I had the idea before I came back to knitting again when I was in a shop and saw a shawl very similar to this and I thought, “I bet I can make that!”

My original shawl started from the long end and then decreased but I thought casting on so many stitches at the beginning of the pattern might be a bit daunting so reversed the construction.

This pattern would also make a great blanket by using bulky yarn and going up a couple of needle sizes.
