Here’s a novel way to knit a fun pair of slippers. The instructions are given for a single yarn, but it is easy to add your own striping or bands of fair isle colorwork. They can be knit with either magic loop or double points.

You’ll be using the Turkish or Judy’s Magic cast-on, and Kitchener stitch to close the toe. There are two options for finishing the ankle opening.

The size differences are for foot circumferences only. You will figure the length based on the wearer’s foot length, with 0 to 1” negative ease. Extra-small is for tots and preschoolers. Small is for bigger kids before they fit into adult sizes. The medium fits an average woman, and the large fits an average man.

You can use any worsted weight yarn, approximately 32 to 80 grams, depending on yarn weight and foot size. Synthetic fibers are durable, as are wool or cotton blended with nylon, acrylic, or polyamide.

A tighter firm fabric is desirable. Adjust needle size to yarn as needed. You will need a 32” or longer circular needle for the cast-on.
