Heidi the Little Doll loves to dress up, this year she’ll be wearing her homemade spider costume! Cute and definitely not spooky, Heidi is a great little dress up doll year-round too.

Heidi is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Heidi is approx. 17cm (6 1/2 inches) tall.

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

  • 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
  • 4ply yarn/fingering
  • Less than 50g yarn in NUDE, PURPLE, ORANGE and LILAC
  • 7mm safety eyes
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • 2 x clear hair ties (optional)

Notes:

  • A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton or cotton blend.
  • Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
  • For this pattern, the following yarns were used: o NUDE = Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 in colour “003 Nude” o ORANGE = Scheepjes Catona in colour “524 Apricot” o PURPLE = Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 in colour “39 Purple” o LILAC = Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 in colour “40 Light Purple”
  • Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight to keep stuffing from showing and for any attachments to stay in place.
  • I have used safety eyes for this pattern but you may embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
