Heir Apparent Socks are the 4th pattern in the Mary, Queen of Socks Club. This pattern features King James IV and I who was the son of Mary, Queen of Scots and marked the first time that England and Scotland had the same monarchy.

This pattern features a strong main cable inspired by the patterning on a cape that was worn by King James. The side cables represent England and Scotland united for the first time. During this time there was little conflict between the countries so the cables are traveling in the same direction.
