This scarf is inspired by a vintage pillowcase made by my Great Aunt Eleanor and given to her husband’s sister, my grandmother Helen, probably in the 1930’s. Eleanor was known for her knitting and crochet skills. I think she was not only a good knitter, but she was also creative, since I’ve never been able to find this combination of edging pattern in any of my many vintage pattern books. I suspect she added together an edging and an insertion, modifying the daisy to make a six-petal version, and added a little of her experience to come up with something that looks very lovely when adapted for a modern-day scarf.
