My first thought was to call this dishcloth “Memories of Maui”, but that is not descriptive for other knitters. When my husband and I were last in Maui, my daughter and her husband treated us to a helicopter tour of west Maui. It was amazing!! On our way into the heliport parking lot, I noticed the sign of Blue Hawaiian Helicopters that had a logo I thought that I could adapt for a dishcloth. Immediately, an idea was born, and we stopped so that I could take a picture of the sign. The mountains of Maui were stunning, especially the close-ups of the many waterfalls aboard the helicopter …. so my dishcloth needed to have mountains. I don’t remember a cloud in the sky, but it seemed fitting to have one above the helicopter.

Thanks, always, to Tunie for test knitting for me. Her husband pilots planes but has buddies who fly helicopters, so I think that she has a plan for her finished dishcloth.

My finished dishcloth weighs 43 grams and measures 9 1/4”W x 9”H. Skills needed are basic: cast on and off, knit and purl.

For best results knitting ‘picture’ dishcloths, use a size or two smaller needle than you usually would for the given yarn, choose a solid colour yarn and block your finished dishcloth.
