While on holiday on Rhodes I had thought I might use some bamboo and wool blend that I had in stash. I had started a prototype for a crescent shawl just before leaving Scotland and decided to try the bamboo for that. It got redesigned as I saw the pattern and shape evolve. Helios Wing is the result.

Construction information

The shawl is knitted in 10 pattern sections, the same basic pattern structure exists in each, but, the number of rows increases in the latter sections Each section has a stocking stitch section and a lace spacer/shaper. These spacers and the short rows built into them create the curving effect. The additional curve near the top is created by the use of increases and these create a curve and some elongation of the top curl. This effect is designed to make a curve that clings to the neckline and makes the shawl wrap more easily with reduced slipping.
