HELLÄ –MITTENS

These beautiful and delicate felted mittens are quickly made from scrap yarn. The pattern has two separate charts, one with a reindeer motif and one without. The reindeer motif is knit first, and the antlers, eyes, and nose are duplicate stitched afterward in a different color. You can also leave the reindeer single-colored if desired.
The mittens are named after Hellä, the reindeer who modeled in my second book.

SIZE
6-7 glove size (with 6 mm / US 10 needles)

INSTRUCTIONS
The size can be adjusted a bit by choosing 0.5-1 mm smaller needles.
Mittens in two colors are softer and stretchier. The duplicate stitching on the reindeer makes the design sturdier and at the same time thicker.

MATERIALS
Alafosslopi yarn 100 g/ball (or Lettlopi held double 50 g/ball)
Main color approx. 70 g
Color A approx. 50 g
Color B approx. 20 g
6 mm / US 10 double pointed needles (DPNs) (5 mm / US 8 as needed)
Darning needle
Scissors
Waste yarn for the thumb stitches

HELLÄ –VANTTUUT

Kauniit ja herkät huovutetut vanttuutsyntyvät nopeasti jämälangoista. Ohjeessa kaksi erillistä kaaviota, porokuviolla ja ilman. Porokuvio neulotaan ensin ja sarvet, sekä silmät ja nenä silmukoidaan jälkikäteen päälle eri värillä. Voit halutessasi jättää poron myös yksiväriseksi.
Nimensä nämä vanttuutovat saaneet Hellä-poron mukaan, joka oli mannekiinina minun toisessa kirjassani.

KOKO
6-7 käsinekoko (puikoilla 6)

TYÖOHJE
Kokoa voi säätää hieman valitsemalla 0,5-1 kokoa pienemmät puikot.
Kaksivärisenä vantus on pehmeämpi ja joustavampi. Porokuviossa silmukointi tekee kuviosta jämäkämmän ja samalla paksumman.
