The Hello Kitty hat has many versions available. This is mine that I did using Encore’s Chunky (a washable bulky weight). The hat is shaped first so you have a guide for ear placement, then the sts are gathered near the top -- giving a very cat-like hat. The ears are doubled (by using dpns) and shaped into simple triangles.

The bow is knit flat (garter-edged) using a washable worsted (about 20-25 yards) that I hand-dyed with kool-aid.

The features are sewn-on using just a bit of washable worsted weight in black. Remember, Hello Kitty has no mouth.

This was made for my great-niece for Christmas … as soon as I receive a picture of her wearing the hat, I will post that too.
