Hesper is a tam knit in the round from the bottom up. Alternating sections of knit and purl, combined with minimal cabling and decreases, create a star pattern on the top of the tam.

Yarn: You will need approximately 185 yards of a dk-weight yarn, optionally held together with 185 yards of a laceweight mohair, for best results.

Supplies:

  • US size 5 16” circular needle
  • 4 US size 5 double-pointed needles
  • US size 5 cable needle (or other cabling method of your choice)
  • tapestry needle

Sizing: Finished tam will measure approximately 17.5” in circumference at the brim and should fit most children aged 4 to 12.

This is the pattern for Week Thirty-Two of Pattern a Week at Running Jack Knits.
