On a recent trip to Iceland, I fell in love with the beautiful handknits
and yarn, as well as the stunning country. And so, the I Dream of
Iceland hat series was born! Hestur is the second in this series.

Hestur means horse in the Icelandic language. The beautiful
Icelandic Horse – and it is horse, never call them ponies! is
everywhere on the island. Hestur celebrates this iconic animal as it
combines a horse motif with a traditional Icelandic motif.

Hat is knit in the round with stranded colorwork.

I knit and designed this in Istex Léttlopi, an Icelandic wool yarn. It’s so lovely to use, I recommend you do the same, but of course any yarn that gets gauge will work! You will need one ball of the main color and small amounts of the two contrast colors.
