On a visit to my grandmother, I was intrigued by a wooden box with a brass medallion and learned my grandfather had bought it when he served in Vietnam in the 1970s. I couldn’t get the image out of my head, and I’d always wanted to try double knitting. Thus the Heximaze Cowl was born.

This cowl starts with an invisible cast on in two colors, uses double knitting in the round to create the reversible (mirror-image) main body, and ends with Kitchener stitch for a smooth finish. Sample is knit in the Large size in a cashmere blend, which shows colorwork beautifully while still having just the slightest cashmere halo. The softness of the yarn, paired with the double thickness, makes a wonderfully squishy and warm cowl that will stand up to the wind.
