Hey Mickey
Hey Mickey …
Christmas Bauble Hat
In honor of the true craftsmanship and force behind one of our first archetypal characters.
In honor of the hand behind the mouse “Ub Iwerks”.
Sometimes the people that lend their forces to success got little to no credit. But whenever you spend time with Mickey on Christmas, I would like you to know who his true creator was.
This Christmas bauble hat is created by knitting from side to side in garter stitch. To shape the top of the head there is one short row (Wrap & Turn) on every left side of the right side row. The edge that defines the face (right selvedge) has an i-cord that is knitted as you go along by slipping the first three stitches on the wrong side and knitting them on the right side. When the hat knitting part is finished you will need to sew the back seem together where you can fit the hanging part of your bauble through a hole created at the back of the hat. The ears are knitted separately by doing short rows on both sides of a straight piece so that it curves to make a sturdy rounded shape.
Merry Knitting!
