This pattern includes a simple flower (in 3 sizes) the larger fancy flower (in 2 sizes) & the new Fancy Pinwheel flower.

A left handed version of this pattern can be found at:

The photo tutorial goes into great detail on the construction of the flower using a small simple flower as an example. It’s easy enough for a novice and as you gain experience you can make bigger & more beautiful flowers with the same pattern! More experienced crocheters can jump right in to a fancy version if they would like. Get started today with this instant download!

There are text-only patterns for the simple and fancy versions of both the medium and large flowers as well as the pinwheel flower. There are reference numbers that correspond to the steps in the photo tutorial so if you prefer, you can just print a page or two and reference the photos on your favorite device if needed.

This comprehensive photo tutorial pattern (9 pages, 43 photos, 3.3MB) also comes with a supplement (6 pages, 42 photos, 2.3MB) which includes additional info and options, an easy way to dye them and photos of flowers including the finished size, the thread & hook used and possibilities to decorate the center.

You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange to view or print the files.

Materials:

DMC Cebelia crochet thread or other tightly wound cotton thread, appropriately sized hook & tapestry needle.

The simple flower can be made with any size thread, the fancy flower is best with size 20 or finer unless it’s to be an applique. Size 30 thread & a 1.5mm or 1.25mm hook is ideal if the fancy flower is to be used as a brooch (approx 1.75” - 2”+ across).

Suggested Materials:
Buttons, beads, stickpin or pinback hardware, U shaped hair pins, fabric dye & small plastic cups.

Gauge:
Not essential. The finer the thread you use, the looser you can make the stitches on the fancy flower.

You need the following skills:

  • magic ring
  • chain
  • slip stitch
  • single crochet
  • half double crochet
  • double crochet
  • triple crochet (medium flower)
  • double triple crochet (large & pinwheel flower)
  • patience (fancy versions)

The small simple flower is easy, appropriate for novice crocheters with the first six skills listed above. The medium & large simple flowers just use taller stitches and are suitable for those with intermediate skills. The fancy versions may require more experience (and some patience) to create the unique lacy edge.
