The Hick Cowl is a cozy cowl. The cowl is knitted in the round in squishy garter stitch. The construction of the cowl uses short rows only, which makes it a very dynamic knit. There is no purling involved. First, the color-striped section is knitted on one side of the cowl. Second, the solid-colored section is knitted on the other side of the cowl. The pattern is written such that no cutting of yarn is required, except when changing skeins/balls. There is only minimal finishing. The pattern has been sample knitted using two different non-superwash Aran and DK weight yarns. The small needle size creates a dense fabric such that the cowl stands up nicely around the neck and keeps you warm. This cowl is fun and quick to knit for everyone loving short rows and garter stitch!

SHORT ROWS
The pattern uses the Wrap and Turn technique. For design reasons, two variations of knitting the wrapped stitches are used (with and without the wrap). For this reason, the pattern may not be directly transferable to other short row methods, such as German Short Rows.
• wrap and turn: slip stitch purlwise from left to right needle, bring yarn to front, return slipped stitch to left needle, turn work.
• knit with wrap: pick up the wrap with the right needle from front to back, knit the stitch and wrap together.
• knit without wrap: knit the stitch without its wrap.

This pattern has not been tech edited nor test knitted and is therefore provided for free.
