ABOUT THE PATTERN

This mitten pattern is a fun, simple knit with a heart on each mitten. Because the heart is located on the palm of the hand and is knit in the same yarn as the rest of the mitten, the heart is a hidden gem that’s sure to make you smile. The mittens are interchangeable, if you’d like to wear the heart on the outside of your hand instead.

I recommend knitting these mittens out of a solid, tonal, semi-solid, or lightly speckled yarn. The busier the yarn, the more “hidden” your hearts will be. The mittens are interchangeable, if you’d like to wear the heart on the outside of your hand instead. The pattern also includes instructions if you wish to make a pair of fingerless mittens instead.

This pattern includes written and charted instructions, as separate PDF files. If you’re looking to make an extra-warm pair of mittens, I recommend using a wool-based yarn. You may also choose to sew a liner for the mittens using felt or fleece fabric.

TECHNIQUES

This pattern is ideal for beginner knitters who know how knit and purl and are looking to learn a few new techniques! It uses the knit, purl, M1L, and M1R stitches. It also requires a bind off, cast on, knitting through the back loop, and picking up stitches. This is a perfect pattern for an adventurous beginners looking to knit their first pair of mittens. If you are unfamiliar with any of these techniques, do not be intimidated. All of my patterns include linked tutorial videos to any techniques that I think may be new to you.
