Hidden Paths Beanie
Love to crochet? To crochet hats? To crochet cabled designs? To crochet with sock weight yarns? Well, then this Hidden Paths Crochet Beanie Pattern is perfect for you!
This intermediate crochet pattern features parallel cable patterns that weave back and forth like hidden forest paths, creating interesting texture and design not always found with crocheted hat patterns. That’s because this hat patterns features the use of sock weight yarn, so you are able to make a more intricate design in a smaller space.
For this pattern, you’ll need approximately 310 yards of a sock 1 weight yarn in the fiber of your choice and a US-F 5/3.75mm crochet hook to make a hat that is one size fits most adults. You’ll also need a tapestry needle and scissors.
Please note that this is an INTERMEDIATE crochet pattern, so it’s very helpful to have some experience with reading crochet patterns. This design, on the rounds where the cables cross over one another, requires you to skip ahead a few stitches and then to go back and stitch into skipped stitches, then to move on ahead after the cross you’ve made. It also requires the use of front-post double crochets as well as front-post treble crochets, sometimes in the same round. So, careful reading and following of the pattern is essential. Stitch counts, broken down into the count of each type of stitch, are included to help you check your work round by round. The patterns are written in US crochet terminology and NO video tutorials are included.
But, once you get the hang of the design, you’ll be whipping up your own impressive hat in no time.
