High Desert
This pattern is available from Patternfish as a KnitCompanion-ready file!
The quality of light in the high desert is golden and striking. Cloud shadows skitter along the ground, and when the seasons begin to change, the sun’s increasingly acute angle to the Earth fills the afternoon with long and dramatic shadows. Mountain passes trap pockets of sunlight, burning red across the landscape.
High Desert is an homage to the golden sun in my part of the world. Loosely following Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi Shawl formula, it is knit outwards from the nape of the neck, ending in rays of sunlight. The special colorway from Plucky Knitter literally shimmers in the sunlight.
