Highate Village is a very simple scarf / shawl knitted on the bias in garter stitch.

In this project I have used leftover oddballs and scraps of yarn from my stash: it is a super stash buster.

I love knitting stripes because it is an easy way to add color to a simple project such as this (in garter stitch only) and makes the knitting process not so boring.

In this case, I knitted with odd balls and leftovers from of the same make (all Vesubio yarns), to be assured that a stripe knitted in Sky Blue will be the same gauge as a stripe knitted in Blue.

Although gauge is not important for this project, using the same make of yarn doesn´t alter its harmony. But that depends on the knitter´s taste.

I have knitted scarf / shawls with yarns of different makes and sizes, obtaining different gauges and textures, resulting in a gorgeous project.

I have placed the stripes at random, there where my intuition indicated; and I have also knitted long stripes in one colour to give further contrast to the project.

The construction is very simple, being the most important things to bear in mind when to change yarns and when to make the increases. With those two tips being clear, you can sit and watch tv while knitting this project.

Highgate Village is number two in the London Series. Help yourself and try number one!

Happy knitting!!
