Highland Hat
Basic Information:
The Highland Hat is a knitted hat inspired by the wild majesty of the Scottish Highlands. Knit in the round in one color, it uses an 8-row braided cable repeat. The pattern is written with no charts. The pattern has been tech edited.
Skill Level / Experience:
Adventurous Beginner.
Techniques used: Knit, purl, k2tog, p2tog, and using cable needle and DPNs.
Sizes Available:
6m (12m, Child/Teen) (Adult, Lg Adult)
Circumference to fit 4-6 inch 10-15cm negative ease: 18 (20, 22) (24, 26) inches 45.5 (50.5, 56) (61, 66) cm
Circumference (unstretched): 13.75 (13.75, 16.5) (19.25, 19.25) inches 34.5 (34.5, 41.5) (48, 48) cm
Height: 6.5 (7.5, 8.25) (9, 9.75) inches 16 (18.5, 20.5) (22.5, 24) cm
Materials:
Yarn: Approximately 55 (61, 80) (101, 113) yds 50 (55, 73) (93,103) meters of bulky weight yarn that gives you the listed gauge in wool or a wool blend preferred. This is just an estimate.
Samples used Olive & Two Ewe Studios Atwood (100% superwash merino; 106 yds/97 m; 3.5 oz/100 g)
in Bad Mood Rising (Deep purple) and Muir (Deep green)
Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows to 4” slightly stretched over cable pattern, using US 10/6 mm needles (or needles to obtain gauge)
