I love to wear the Highway Hat, so I had to make a matching cowl to help me resist the cold Swedish weather. This cowl is made in one piece, sewing both sides of the folded hem after its blocked. The hem makes the cowl match your Highway Hat perfectly, while keeping you warm and cosy.

Yarn: Shown samples knitted with Squishy Merino DK (Fruvalborg) 257yds/235m per 115g in colourways MC/CC (note that CC is the one used for brim): (S) Oxidized/Hidden in snow, (M) Rusty Yeti/Caramel. You can use any other DK weight yarn.

Needles: 3.5 mm/US 4 and 4.0mm/US 6, 40 cm/16’’ circular needles. Check your gauge and adjust needle size/s if necessary.

Gauge: 26 stitches x 34 rows for 10x10 cm / 4’’ in (k2, p1) unstretched ribbing with the smaller needle
17 stitches x 24 rows for 10x10 cm / 4’’ in brioche stitch with the larger needle

Finished size: Sizes: S (M). Circumference: 52 (60) cm / 20 (24)’’, Height: 28 (28) cm / 11 (11)’’

Yardage: MC/CC: (S) 95/175m 105/192 yds (M) 110/230m 120/252 yds

Other items: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends as well as stitching the folded hem, stitch marker. Crochet hook and waste yarn for provisional cast on. Safety pin to thread the I-cord (optional).
