This pattern is available from potluckyarn.com for $5.00.

This is the kind of pattern that everyone can crave, and that gets handed down from generation to generation. It doesn’t age. It’s practical and very handsome, and suits men or women equally well. It has some completely unfussy detailing to avoid boredom in knitter and onlooker, and (this is key) completely suits its purpose. Hikers are familiar with potential chafing of stiff (new?) boots, and the little block pattern on both sides of the ankle helps to cushion it. Work boots, same thing. Any worsted or DK yarn worked to this tension would be absolutely great.
