HIRAETH is a Welsh word for homesickness or nostalgia, an earnest longing or desire, or a sense of regret. The feeling of longing for a home that never was. A deep and irrational bond felt with a time, era, place or person.

Construction:

this garment is knit seamlessly from the top down, both flat and in the round. Part of the body is knit in the round in stockinette stitch, and the lace panels for the back and front are knit flat, creating a deep split hem. I find it more practical this way, since the front panel covers you like a blanket instead of getting folded up, the way sweaters without split hems do.

Stitches are picked up around neckline and armhole openings to knit the ribbed bands.

The pattern includes both charted and written instructions for the lace section.

Note:

There are options available for tighter and more open neckline.

The neckline of the sample is slightly tighter than the finished garment’s tighter neckline option due to tighter BO in the sample.

Materials:

Yarn:

For the sample I used: We Are Knitters The Petite Wool (100% Wool; 153 yards / 140 meters per 100g);

Color used: Spotted blue

If you wish to achieve similar texture to the one the sample has, I recommend using single ply yarn.
Feel free to use any bulky weight yarn of your choice, but make sure you swatch and get gauge!
