Hiruki means triangle. And although coming up with the right design for it gave me a bit of a headache, I finally was able to make my vision true. A little triangle that fits perfectly, that gives the right amount of ease, a little breathing room. A design for Laura mimosacafelanar, she is truly a breeze of fresh air. Inspired by her designs, Hiruki feature an asymmetric wedge toe and three fabric options: plain, ribbed and lace - 3 patterns in 1.

Sizes & measurements
Sizes: 1 (2, 3) 4, 5
Stitches: 56 (60, 64) 68, 72 sts
Circumference: 17.5 (19, 20) 21, 22.5 cm / 7 (7.5, 7.75) 8.25, 8.75″
Choose a size that is ~2 cm / 0.75” less than the widest circumference of your foot. E.g. my foot measures 22 cm at its widest, so I choose a size 3.
Foot length: adjustable
Height: 19 cm / 7.5” (adjustable)

Yarn
Cottagecore No.3 (85% merino, 15% alpaca superfine; 100 g / 350 m).
Pictured in the colourways nisal, mirasol & regodón
Or any other sock yarn if you obtain gauge with it. The pattern also works for classic 100 g / 400 m 4-ply sock yarns.

Gauge
32 sts x 42 rounds on stockinette stitch in the round on 2.25 mm / US 1 needles
36 sts x 44 rounds on lace motif in the round on 2.25 mm /US 1 needles

Needles
2.25 mm / US 1 / 80 cm 32″ circular needles (or the required needle size to obtain gauge)
2.75 mm / US 2 / 80 cm 32″ circular needles for bind-off (or 0.5 mm bigger than the needle used for main gauge)

Other notions
bulb-type markers, measuring tape, scissors, darning needle, blocking materials (recommended)

Construction
The Hiruki socks are worked from the toe up. The asymmetric wedge toes are worked the same way for both left and right socks and their orientation is established with the last row of increases: top and bottom needles will be established, inverted for right and left socks. The heel features a mini-gusset worked in reverse stockinette (purl stitches) and a shallow short row heel. Before binding off the cuff, a few increases are worked so that the bind-off is not tight.

Techniques
Judy’s magic cast-on, magic loop, knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing, German short rows, lace knitting (optional), knitted bind-off. Fabric options: Plain stockinette, 3x1 Broken rib or full rib, or Full lace.

Altura: 19 cm / 7.5” (ajustable)

Hilo
Cottagecore No.3 (85% merino, 15% alpaca superfina; 100 g / 350 m).
