The Hobart Cowl was designed at a time when my imagination was bursting with the the possibilities of knitting. Something had clicked in my mind and understood, suddenly and completely, that a stitch is like a little dot, and out of dots can be drawn just about anything!

I thought about all of the lovely repeating patterns I’ve seen on old wallpapers and fabrics. I remembered back to a trip I had taken to Hobart, Tasmania a few years prior, and how in the cities cobblestone streets and sandstone buildings there are wonderful patterns to be found.

In the stranded colour work pattern of this cowl I sought to emulate some of that beauty.
