---- “Hobby” Hexagons ----
These hexagons are fun to work up and look very pretty when made with self-striping yarn.

• Pattern is written in US terms.

• Yarn used: Hobbii Tea Time in “Wild Berries” (07) (This is a 4 weight yarn, however, it works up more like a thicker 3 weight or thinner 4 weight, imo.)

• A close match to substitute for the Hobbii Tea Time in “Wild Berries” is Red Heart Roll WIth It Melange in “Hollywood”.

• Hook size “J” (6.0 mm).

• Approx: 20 - 22 yards per hexagon.

• Hexagons measure approx. 5.25” across and 6” from point to point.

• Hexagons have 10 sts per side.

• (Any weight of yarn can be used with a suitably sized hook. Size will of course vary, depending on yarn, hook size and tension.)

STITCHES USED: CH, HDC, DC.
PUFF STITCH: Instructions given in pattern.

SAMPLE BLANKET DETAILS: “Hobby” Hexagon Blanket ~~

I made a total of 18 WHOLE Hexagons and 4 HALF hexagons mainly using Hobbii Tea Time in “Wild Berries”, along with a few being made with Red Heart Roll With It Melange in “Hollywood”. They were joined together with a “Tight Join” using DC. https://www.gathered.how/knitting-and-crochet/crochet/how...

The yarn used for joining is Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Blush. The BORDER used this yarn as well. A size J hook was used throughout. The BORDER consists of SC along the sides and TR3TOG decreases + DC and HDC stitches to along the TOP and BOTTOM edges to help even them out.

Then with an accent color (Red Heart Roll With It Melange in Hollywood) Ch 1. Skip next st. MINI BEAN ST in next st. all around. With MINI BEAN ST, ch 2, MINI BEAN ST in the Corners.

I then went around 3 more times with the MINI BEAN STS. Upon the last round of MINI BEAN STS I worked my MODIFIED RICK RACK BORDER.

MODIFIED RICK RACK BORDER Working on the foundation of MINI BEAN Stitch: Its SS, DC, SS worked in chain 1 space. Skip next stitch. SS in next chain 1 space. SS in next stitch. SS in next chain 1 space. SS in next stitch. Repeat from * to * all around, making 2 SS, DC, 2 SS in EACH CORNER. SS = Slip Stitch.
