Hockey Socks
I always struggle to find something to knit for my nieces and nephews that they will actually appreciate and wear, so I’ve mostly avoided it. When I asked my sister for suggestions, she said that they would love and use practice hockey socks in their favourite NHL team colours.
I was surprised at how few patterns were out there, so I chose to improvise and thought others might appreciate my take on hand-knit hockey socks.
Because I used scrap yarn, I do not know the actual yardage for these, but I would estimate a skein (245 yards) if you are making traditionally striped socks per socks, minus whatever you use for striping. This is a great stash buster!
These were done in acrylic by request. Wool is heavy and too hot for hockey practice.
I made each set differently, and have included instructions for the basic stockinette socks for now - the others will be added when I have completed typing the directions up. But you can use whatever stitch you want! Ultimately these need to be very stretchy, so just don’t use a solid stitch pattern.
Enjoy, and please message me with any questions you have, or any errors/points of confusion you may find in the pattern.
Please note that this pattern is available for free and may be used for personal use including gifting. If you would like to profit from the sale of these socks, please attribute myself as the designer.
